Military Spouses Residency Relief Act - S 475 Passes Markup - Surge On Congress Underway!
On May 21st The Military Spouses Residency Relief Act (MSRRA), Senate Bill 475, passed though the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee Markup. This is a significant hurdle. The Military Spouse Fans on Facebook have put forth such a wonderful effort in Surge On The Senate that MSRRA has co-sponsorship from 37 Senators. The goal given to Military Spouses by Senator Burr's office was 35. Surge On Congress is underway! Military Spouses were asked to try to obtain co-sponsorship from 200 House Of Representatives for HR 1182. As of today the Coalition for Military Spouses Residency Relief Act has been able to obtain co-sponsorship from 101 House of Representatives. You can also find out which state the Coalition decides to sweep for the day along with up to date information and news. Military Spouses and Families:
From today until August we are launching a campaign to inundate Congress with calls from military spouses urging their Representatives to sign on as Co-Sponsors of this bill and show their support of Military Spouses. We truly believe in the power of the Military Spouse network and need your help in order to get this legislation signed into law.
The Bill (HR. 1182) was introduced by Congress Carter of Texas and is being co-sponsored by both Republicans and Democrats. It is also the only piece of military family/spouse legislation currently under consideration in Congress.
